Forex - Foreign Exchange Part 2

Currency Markets
Foreign exchange transactions that are settled immediately are said to occur in the spot market, while transactions to be settled at a future date occur in either the forward or the futures market.
Investment Guide and Forex Trading
These markets are summarized below:
1. Spot Market:
This is the market for currencies for immediate delivery. The price of foreign exchange in the spot market is referred to as the spot exchange rate or simply the spot rate.
The spot FX market is unique to any other market in the world, as trading is available 24 hours a day.
Somewhere around the world, a financial center is open for business, where banks and other institutions exchange currencies, every hour of the day and night with generally only minor gaps on the weekend.
Essentially foreign exchange markets follow the sun around the world, giving traders the flexibility of determining their very own trading time.
2. Forward Market:
This market is for the exchange of foreign currencies at a future date. A forward contract usually represents a contract between a large money center bank and a well-known (to the bank) customer having a well-defined need to hedge exposure to fluctuations in exchange rates.
Although forward contracts usually call for the exchange to occur in either 30, 90 or 180 days, the contract can be customized to call for the exchange of any desired quantity of currency at any future date acceptable to both parties to the contract.
The price of foreign currency for future delivery is typically referred to as a forward exchange rate or simply a forward rate.
3. Futures Market:
Although the futures market trading is similar to forward market trading in that all transactions are to be settled at a future date, futures markets are actual physical locations where anonymous participants trade standard quantities of foreign currency (e.g., 200,000 EURO per contract) for delivery at standard future dates (e.g., March, June, September, and December).
Up until recently, only banks, hedge funds, and other large institutions have had access to currency trading in the spot market.
With an approximate volume of $2 trillion traded on a daily basis internationally, the individual trader looks for an opportunity to take advantage of the most liquid market in the world.
Day-traders are no longer confined to trading stocks and commodities, and now have the ability to trade all of the major currencies, including US Dollar, Yen, Euro, British Pound, Australian and Canadian Dollars, Swiss Frank and etc, 24 hours a day.
There is considerable exposure to risk in any Forex (FX) transaction.
Before deciding to participate in FX trading, you should carefully consider your objectives, level of experience and risk appetite ...
But most importantly, don't invest money you can't afford to lose

Make Big Money Fast in Forex is Possible… And You Can Do It, too!

Like you, I have been searching the world for trying to find the ‘holy grail’ of forex trading.

I started using other people trading systems, I bought a lot of trading systems in the market and I traded day and night followed other people trading signals. For many years, I never found a trading system that could be profitable in a long term.

So I decided to create my own trading systems.

My trading systems are a direct outcome from years of learning other people methods and tried it all.

… From that point I know what works and what does not…

… From learning other people concepts then perfecting them…

I can take my trading methods to the next level.

The chart below is one of my trading systems. This chart is updated every five minutes for 24 hours.

It produces profit more than 50% in a month.

Freak wave 'hot spots' identified

Scientists in the US have made a major advance in their understanding of so-called freak waves.

These monster waves present a major risk to ships and offshore platforms.

A computer simulation developed by oceanographers in the US could help locate where and when these "rogue" phenomena are most likely to occur.

The theoretical study shows that coastal areas with variations in water depth and strong currents are hot spots for freak waves.

The history of seafaring is littered with tales of rogue waves capable of rending ships asunder.

A freak wave is one that measures roughly three times higher than other swells on the sea at any one time. These phenomena can measure up to 18m (60ft) - the height of a six-storey building.

The new computer simulation was developed by Tim Janssen of San Francisco State University (SFSU) and Thomas HC Herbers of the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.

Their findings are published in the Journal of Physical Oceanography.

Focal zone

Sandbanks and strong currents may cause waves to change direction and speed. This concentrates wave energy into a single point, which oceanographers call a "wave focal zone".

This zone is like a burning glass, Dr Janssen explained, where the light comes in and focuses all the energy on a single point, forming a hot spot.

The same happens when a wave travels over, for example, a sandbank, or over a current. The energy is being focused on to a single point.

Moroccan airline bans prayer time

Morocco's state airline Royal Air Maroc has banned its staff praying at their offices and headquarters.
The company says that in the past its workers have abused the privilege of praying, by taking too much time away from their desks and their customers.

But the airline's workers as well as Islamist politicians say it is part of a crackdown on their religious freedom.

Praying is one of the five pillars of Islam and regarded as a crucial part of a Muslim's way of life.
The state airline, partly owned by the Moroccan royal family, is a great source of pride and prestige in the country.

Top news

A close associate of Pakistan's most wanted man, Baitullah Mehsud, who was reportedly killed in a US drone attack, has told the BBC he is alive.

Commander Hakimullah Mehsud said reports of the Taliban leader's death three days ago in an attack on a house in South Waziristan were "ridiculous".

The US said on Friday it was increasingly confident its forces had managed to kill Mr Mehsud.

Neither side has provided evidence to back up their claims so far.

Pakistan's foreign minister said on Friday he was "pretty certain" Baitullah Mehsud had been killed.

Industry and organizations

Main article: Software industry
Software has its own niche industry that is called the software industry made up of different entities and peoples that produce software, and as a result there are many software companies and programmers in the world. Because software is increasingly used in many different areas like in finance, searching, mathematics, space exploration, gaming and mining and such, software companies and people usually specialize in certain areas. For instance, Electronic Arts primarily creates video games.

Also selling software can be quite a profitable industry. For instance, Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft is the second richest man in the world in 2008 largely by selling the Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office software programs. The same goes for Larry Ellison, largely through his Oracle database software.

There are also many non-profit software organizations like the Free Software Foundation, GNU Project, Mozilla Foundation. Also there are many software standard organizations like the W3C, IETF and others that try to come up with a software standard so that many software can work and interoperate with each other like through standards such as XML, HTML, HTTP or FTP.

Some of the well known software companies include Microsoft, Apple, IBM, Oracle, Novell, SAP and HP.

Design and implementation

Main articles: Software development, Computer programming, and Software engineering
Design and implementation of software varies depending on the complexity of the software. For instance, design and creation of Microsoft Word software will take much longer time than designing and developing Microsoft Notepad because of the difference in functionalities in each one.

Software is usually designed and created (coded/written/programmed) in integrated development environments (IDE) like emacs, xemacs, Microsoft Visual Studio and Eclipse that can simplify the process and compile the program. As noted in different section, software is usually created on top of existing software and the application programming interface (API) that the underlying software provides like GTK+, JavaBeans or Swing. Libraries (APIs) are categorized for different purposes. For instance, JavaBeans library is used for designing enterprise applications, Windows Forms library is used for designing graphical user interface (GUI) applications like Microsoft Word, and Windows Communication Foundation is used for designing web services. Underlying computer programming concepts like quicksort, hashtable, array, and binary tree can be useful to creating software. When a program is designed, it relies on the API. For instance, if a user is designing a Microsoft Windows desktop application, he/she might use the .NET Windows Forms library to design the desktop application and call its APIs like Form1.Close() and Form1.Show()[7] to close or open the application and write the additional operations him/herself that it need to have. Without these APIs, the programmer needs to write these APIs him/herself. Companies like Sun Microsystems, Novell, and Microsoft provide their own APIs so that many applications are written using their software libraries that usually have numerous APIs in them.

Software has special economic characteristics that make its design, creation, and distribution different from most other economic goods.[8][9]

A title of a person who creates software is called a programmer, software engineer, software developer, and code monkey that all essentially have a same meaning.

Application software

Application software allows end users to accomplish one or more specific (not directly computer development related) tasks. Typical applications include:

industrial automation
business software
computer games
telecommunications (i.e., the internet and everything that flows on it)
databases
educational software
medical software
military software
spreadsheet
phoyo-editing
Word processing

Programming software

Programming software usually provides tools to assist a programmer in writing computer programs, and software using different programming languages in a more convenient way. The tools include:

compilers
debuggers
interpreters
linkers
text editors
An Integrated development environment (IDE) is a single application that attempts to manage all these functions.

System software

System software helps run the computer hardware and computer system. It includes combination of the following:

device drivers
operating systems
servers
utilities
windowing systems
The purpose of systems software is to unburden the applications programmer from the details of the particular computer complex being used, including such accessory devices as communications, printers, readers, displays and keyboards, and also to partition the computer's resources such as memory and processor time in a safe and stable manner.

Computer software

Computer software, or just software is a general term used to describe the role that computer programs, procedures and documentation play in a computer system.[1]

The term includes:

Application software such as word processors which perform productive tasks for users.
Firmware which is software programmed resident to electrically programmable memory devices on board mainboards or other types of integrated hardware carriers.
Middleware which controls and co-ordinates distributed systems.
System software such as operating systems, which interface with hardware to provide the necessary services for application software.
Software testing is a domain independent of development and programming. It consists of various methods to test and declare a software product fit before it can be launched for use by either an individual or a group. Many tests on functionality, performance and appearance are conducted by modern testers with various tools such as QTP, Load runner and Black box testing, to edit a checklist of requirements against the developed code. ISTQB is a certification that is in demand for engineers who want to pursue a career in testing.[2]
Testware which is an umbrella term or container term for all utilities and application software that serve in combination for testing a software package but not necessarily may optionally contribute to operational purposes. As such, testware is not a standing configuration but merely a working environment for application software or subsets thereof.
Software includes things such as websites, programs or video games, that are coded by programming languages like C or C++.

"Software" is sometimes used in a broader context to mean anything which is not hardware but which is used with hardware, such as film, tapes and records.[3]
